Shabbat Shalom Ulpanon Bet Families,
The children are looking forward to celebrating the Rosh Hashanah holiday with you! Some of the highlights from our week: We continued our discussions about the holiday and the hamon garinim, hamon mitzvot shel harimon (many seeds, many mitzvahs of the pomegranate), including the mitzvah of wishing a sweet year to each other and the world around us. The children completed their kartisei bracha (greeting cards) by adding drawings and personal blessings to their families: I drew a shofar for Rosh Hashanah. I hope you eat apples and honey, tapuchim b’dvash. I drew two pomegranates; this is a big one and that’s the small one. It’s a rimon. That’s the seeds inside the pink stuff in the pomegranate. I drew a tapuach b’dvash (apples and honey) and beit ha’knesset (the temple). I want to say Chag Sameach leh Rosh Hashanah. Have a sweet New Year like tapuchim b’dvash! I drew a challah agulah (round challah) for Rosh Hashanah. I love you! I want you to have everything sweet. I love you, Eema and Abba, Liam, Savta and Sabba. I drew a tapuach. You dip the apples in the honey. I drew a tapuach for Rosh Hashanah. I want to spend time with you and pray with you. Have a sweet year and eat apples and honey; it’s yummy and healthy! I drew a shofar for Rosh Hashanah. I drew a shofar that blows air from one side, then it goes out from the other. Have a sweet year! I wish you a happy Rosh Hashanah. Have a sweet year. I drew a green apple because I want you to have a sweet year! That’s what I wish. Specialists: The children enjoyed creative time in the Atelier and working with clay and loose parts. In P.E. with Coach Danny, the children warmed up their bodies with crab-walking, running, hopping and galloping across the gym. They then enjoyed the Velcro paddle toss, balancing/catching/returning the ball on the hand-held trampoline Boundaloons and kicking fuzzy foam balls. During Yoga with Cheryl, we went on a Rosh Hashanah Adventure through different poses: The ‘Shofar’ Crescent Moon Pose, the ‘Apple Tree Picking’ Extended Mountain Pose, the ‘Honeybee’ Reach Up Buzz Pose, and the ‘Rosh Hashanah Love’ Cobbler’s Pose. In Music with Ditza, the children danced with colorful scarves to the beautiful song, Etz Harimon (The Pomegranate Tree) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8K6PWcQ93wk, and enjoyed singing new Rosh Hashanah songs, including B’Rosh Hashanah (at Rosh Hashanah) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o9PxSc8uofg. Rabbi Josh told us the story of the flood and Noah’ Ark, and how Noah saved the animals. We were invited to join our friends in Room 9 for a Rosh Hashanah Kabbalat Shabbat. We made a honey cake to share with them and sang the blessings and songs together to welcome in the new year. The children also had fun making honey apple turnovers to take home with their cards. Special Notes:
Wishing you all a Chag Sameach and Shana Tova u’Metuka! Shabbat Shalom, Shoshi and Meirav
