It has been a very busy and full first week of school for us in room 22. All of the children are doing an amazing job of saying good-bye to the mommies, daddies, and nannies. This week the children had fun painting with a wide range of painting tools and the various colors of apples that we eat during Rosh Hashanah. The children also enjoyed playing with play-dough, as well as building with blocks and legos. While on the rug playing with the blocks, the children worked with concepts of shape, location, and length, and they exercised their imaginations while expressing their creativity. We sang songs and enjoyed flannel board stories. The children had a good time during singing and movement with our music teacher, Andrew. The children are loving our little yards and getting to know the friends from room 23. This week we investigated a few of the symbols related to the holiday of Rosh Hashanah. We also practiced singing a few songs and sounding the Shofars. The children enjoyed having challah with honey and cheese for Shabbat snack on Friday as well as going to Temple. During Temple we sang Shabbat songs with Rabbi Josh and Rabbi Sari as Ditza played her guitar. After that we watched as the ark was opened and the Torah was brought around for us to see. We also heard a special story about an apple tree for Rosh Hashanah.
Shabbat Shalom & Shana Tova Tania & Tricia
