Hi Everyone!
This week we worked a lot on our fine motor skills, shapes, colors, and using our words with friends. While working on our fine motor skills, we finished up our cutting activities, used pipe cleaners to strings beads, and clothes pins to squeeze and put on a plate. These activities encourage children to work on their pincer grasp which promotes learning the foundations to writing. We also painted popsicles sticks, used different shaped sponges to paint with, and used glue to put different shapes on our papers. During this time, we discussed the different shapes we saw, focusing on circles and squares. We then encouraged children to try to draw a circle themselves as well as making a vertical line. The children seemed to be very excited to show us their own designs and were able to independently make the shape and line. It was so amazing to see the final product. Teacher Brock came to visit us and we sang many songs, danced, and played the tambourine. We also brought in the light table and magnatiles. The children had so much fun exploring the shapes, building castles, houses, and towers, as well as discussing the different colors amongst each other. We continue to work on sharing with our friends, turn-taking, using nice hands and kind words. Over the past week, your children have shown immense improvement with these interactions. We have noticed them asking for a turn, counting to 5 before using something, and sharing. They thrive with the reinforcement of stamps and verbal praise, and they are sure to express to us when they are sharing something with a friend. Hope you enjoy your long weekend, Shabbat Shalom, and we will see you on Monday. Michelle & Jen
