The children have been very busy this past week. They enjoyed making pumpkin spice playdough from scratch, discussions of volcanoes, water play as well as continuing to explore germs.
The children helped to measure out the ingredients for our new batch of playdough at the start of the week. They were able to learn concepts of measurement, as well as how hot and cold temperatures help change the consistency of matter. All very important math and science skills. Once the playdough was ready they used only their hands to play with the playdough. That gave the children an opportunity to really strengthen their imaginations. Some of the children began creating volcanoes which then prompted a discussion about what a volcano is. Many of the children are continuing to make volcanoes out of playdough even with the tools added back in. Since they are continuing to show interest we are looking forward to exploring them in more depth over the coming weeks. The children are still sharing ways to keep from spreading germs. They enjoyed a new experiment this week using pepper, and how their germs scatter. They also created more germ pictures using watercolors this time. We enjoyed Shabbat in class reading the book “A Circle of Smiles” by Sylvia Rouss about giving tzedakah to our new friend Binaya at Beit Issie. During Temple we enjoyed singing Shabbat songs with Ditza and listening to a story by Rabbi Sari. After Temple we visited the Farmers Market with the friends from room 23. We sat outside and ate delicious fruit. Shabbat Shalom T & T
