Our week was short but sweet!
Many of our friends have been exercising their memories by playing memory/matching games. It takes focus and patience to wait for each friend to have their turn turning over only two cards, and often the game takes longer than most others we have played this year. In order to find picture matches you have to pay attention while each person takes their turn, and everyone has been so helpful in reminding their friends where a picture that was previously turned over might be hiding. Alexa especially loves helping her friends out! They are so delighted when they find a match, and we are proud of the children for taking the time and focus to learn this new game. Every Friday, after Shabbat services, we visit the Studio in Room 10. We take turns going in so that there will only be small groups inside at a time. This allows us and our art teacher, Joanne, to be able to focus on and inquire about the children's projects. Some of the areas in the Studio the children like most are the beading table, the clay table, light exploration, and large canvas painting. At the clay table, the children use sponges and spray bottles to discover how water changes the texture of the clay. The children noticed that clay is much harder than play-dough, and it also feels cold on their hands. Kenny and Enya especially liked spraying their clay with water until it was very wet and mushy. Liana and Orli used magnifying glasses to look at colored glass on the light table, watching how the colors change when they put it over the light. Alexa and Celine arranged the pieces to make an obstacle course. Hudson loved pointing the flashlight on all of the different materials. We love taking the time on Shabbat to go to the Studio and immerse ourselves in a different space, where we can explore all sorts of new projects. It's a wonderful way to end our week. Thank you to the Cutter family for a wonderful Shabbat celebration, and an extra thank you to Rabbi Sari for teaching us a new silly Shabbat song during Storah time. Have a great weekend and Shabbat Shalom, Julia, Tricia and Tania Reminders: -Picture day is MONDAY -Generations day is next Friday, February 28th. -Between now and the 25th, please bring in items for SOVA for our Generations day mitzvah project!
