Spring has sprung and we have been working as a class on creating our spring wall. The children are enjoying discussions about all of the different things that they see during spring. They have been citing examples of the things they are finding outside, both at school and at home, such as birds making a nest, flowers growing, rain, rainbows, insects and small critters. A few of the children have even decided it is a good idea to clear away our rain cloud so that our sun can come out and shine again. Oliver has requested we learn about spiders and spider webs while Sammy and a few of the other boys have expressed a desire for a snail garden.
The children that have chosen to help paint the flowers have been working on decision making, their pincer grasp and how to control the pressure of the paint brush. Some of the other children have chosen to expand their imaginations while assisting in the placement of the flowers on the wall. All of the children are enjoying our outside time exploring the garden and finding various bugs. The children are learning the bugs' scientific names and gaining an understanding of how some outdoor creatures such as snails can transform into something else. The children have also been fascinated with the transformation of our caterpillars. Now that the caterpillars have created their cocoons the children are learning about patience and how waiting is sometimes not easy. We even read a book that Ella T. brought in by Mo Willems called “Waiting Is Not Easy.” Next Wednesday, May 24th, be sure to dress your child in beach attire. We will be having an end of the Year Ice Cream Social with the friends in all of the other classrooms on our back yard. Our class has been assigned ice cream cones. A sign-up for volunteers has been put out. Don’t worry if you are not able to sign-up we will be having an End of the Year party for just our class. Details to come later next week. We enjoyed a nice Shabbat with Evie and her grandmother. We even enjoyed her chocolate chip challah as a special Shabbat treat. The children had a great time sing with Ditza during Temple. They also, heard a great story by Rabbi Josh about team work and sharing. Shabbat Shalom T & T IMPORTANT UPCOMING DATES TO REMEMBER
