The children had a wonderful time during their first visit to the Library. The library is a place where children are active, they engage with group stories as well as individuals’. While at the Library the children were given an opportunity to sit at tables or on the rug to look through books of their choice. We would like to thank Hagit for coming to read to us during that time. The children are still enjoying sharing ways to keep their germs from spreading as well as practicing to wash their hands thoroughly. We also had a great time putting up our newest germ paintings for display. We have also continued to talk about volcanos and begun to work on creating one of our many classroom volcanos by painting large pieces of paper with various shades of brown paint, black and other lighter colors to create depth and contrast as a group. While painting as a group the children are building their physical development using their large and small muscles as well as their eye-hand coordination. The children are also developing cognitively by the attention they give to where and how they want the paint to appear on the paper as well as socially by communicating this to the other children working on the project. The children are also getting opportunities to develop their imaginations through experimentation. All these opportunities are aiding in the children’s emotional development. We ended the week with a quiet Shabbat in the classroom with challah and apples for snack. The children also enjoyed going to Temple, singing with Ditza and saying the blessings with Rabbi Josh. Shabbat Shalom T&T
