Dear Parents,
When school closes for Professional Development, we teachers have a wonderful opportunity to learn about things that we can then use in the classroom. It reinvigorates our teaching, and we often take away new ideas to employ as a part of our curriculum. Tuesday was one of those days. We spent the day together, working on emergent curriculum and developing and furthering ideas. Thank you to Jenna, Emma’s mom, who brought lemons from their tree and the children all got to squeeze and juice the lemons. The children had the opportunity to taste the lemons with just water where a lot of them announced that it was too chamootz (sour), before adding some sugar and saying how they liked it better when it was matok (sweet). We then went straight into circle time where we read the book HaShkaydiyah Bocha (The Almond Tree is Crying). The children helped tell the story themselves, filling in the details on each page, telling us why the Shkaydiyah (almond tree) was crying. We rounded out our week with our specialists, Yoga with Cheryl, Storah with Rabbi Sari and Music with Ditza. Thank you to Lily who was our Shabbat Ima and her family. Shabbat Shalom, Gali, Mira and Miri Reminders: Jennifer, James’ mom is our Library reader on Tuesday, January 28th at 9:30 am Wednesday, January 29th is Spirit Day—please dress your child as any Disney character you like.
