Dear Ulpanon Aleph Parents,
The week began with an EC wide Havdalah led by Jen Shankman. It is such a beautiful service and the children all enjoy singing the songs as a whole community. This week we introduced Hanukkah by putting out books and Hannukiyot and svivonim (dreidels/spinning tops) for the children to explore before we told the story of Judah the Maccabee and the Beit HaMikdash (temple). The children made cad shemen (oil jar) by rolling a glue stick all over the paper and sticking small little colorful squares on it, working on their fine motor skills as they picked up the little squares with their fingers. The children painted paper dreidels by rolling various sized marbles within a tray, covered in paint, working on their hand eye coordination by rolling the marbles every which way and taking care to not drop them off the tray as they moved it. We set out a table for the children to build with wooden blocks of various sizes and they were able to set out the animals within, over, under and throughout the blocks they built. Thank you to Hagit, Ethan, Aharon and Ariel’s mom, who was our Library Reader. We rounded out our week with our variety of specialists, Art with JoAnne, Music with Marcos, Yoga with Cheryl, Storah Time with Rabbi Sari and Music with Ditza. Thank you to Maya who was our Shabbat Ima and her family.
