Oh, what beautiful children came into class Monday morning. Starting off the week with picture day was a little hectic, thank goodness it didn't rain on our special day. We set up a lot of activities in the around the room, but nothing messing. We kept clean and sparkling and used smiling faces for the photographers.
We put out a lot of Alphabet and Number games and puzzles this week. Practicing letter sounds, letter recognition and one on one correspondence of objects with numbers. The children enjoyed the new games we put out for them to play and assist them to master the skills we are learning. During circle time we have begun to challenge the children a little more. We now pick a friend's name when singing, "Who came to school today". They are learning to recognize not only their names, but the names of the other children in the class. We have many children with names that begin with "A". They must really look at all the letters in the names, in order to, identify the correct name. Purim is in the air. We have started telling the story, of course, in an age appropriate way. Vashti and Haman are sent to live outside of Shushan in a far-off part of Persia. We have made our groggers and next week we will bake Hamantashen. The teachers have promised to bring in chocolate kisses to use for them, making them an extra special treat. We have a class with lots of sweet teeth. Rabbi Josh came Thursday and he told us a story about George Washington and why he became the first president of our country. We also practiced singing the Hebrew Alphabet and the blessings for different fruits and veggies. Before we left for music with Andrew the children called Chloe with FaceTime. They were excited to say hello and tell her we hope she feels better. Andrew practiced tapping out rhythm with words and music. Shabbat is here after a very busy week. The smell of Challah dough in the air and we are covered with flour. Braden was our Shabbat boy this week. He brought us delicious chocolate cookies for a sweet Shabbat treats. As always, sharing our room 12 family Shabbat is special to us. With a little bit of a sad face our chicks have been sent to Asher's Farm. They were getting too big for the glass enclosure. The children do miss them, and we explained why they need to leave and they will have a much bigger enclosure to run around in.
