How many things can you fit into a Monday morning? We did a lot and had lots of energy to spare. We started off the week with a school Havdalah. Coming together ending the weekend and starting off the school week with spirit and community. Havdalah was followed by a special activity that has been added to our monthly calendar. My Gym will be leading us once a month for special gym activities. This week we learned to stretch our bodies using fun activities such as reaching for apples up in a tree. We ran, jumped on a spring board and did forward rolls. The class is looking forward to the next time we meet with them. As we got ready for yard time we were surprised with a fire drill. The noise maybe loud, but we have learned to cover our ears and walk in a line quickly to our safety spot in front of the Katz Pavilion. It is so important for us to practice and have these drills and we all hope we will never need them for real.
Tuesday, was library day. Asher's nanny Flora joined us and started off our Passover Holiday learning. Can you imagine that we just saved the Jews in Persia and now we are about to learn out Egypt, saving the Jewish people again and celebrating freedom. Wow we are a busy people with a lot of stories, holidays and traditions to celebrate. Flora read, "The Littlest Frog" by Sylvia Rouss and Holly Hannon. We laughed at all the frogs jumping around Pharoah's palace. Wednesday was again a very busy morning. We were joined by a lot of our moms and dads for a pizza making start to our day. We rolled out dough, picked our toppings and of course we were full of flour. What would cooking and baking be like if we weren't covered with flour. The pizza was yummy, (sorry we ate it all up and didn't share it with the parents). We welcome any other food or fun projects that the parents would like to help with. Before circle time Audrey's mom and Audrey read a book, "Pink is my Favorite Color". It seems like pink is a favorite color for most of our children, boys and girls alike. The children now have a new check in system when they come to class. On our front door is a board with everyone's name on the right side attached by Velcro and on the left side it says, "Who Came to School Today". They are now responsible for checking in as they enter the room. It is another job that each child has added to our weekly jobs. The beginning of the week the children have all begun to ask what their job will be. Sometimes they need to remind the teachers what their jobs are, since we don't always keep things straight in our minds. They think it is very silly when we forget things and ask them for the answers. Thursday Rabbi Sari came into our classroom along with Room 14. We heard about how the Israelites were given the task of building a special home for the Torah and all the colorful jewels clothes they used to decorate. Andrew taught us songs for Passover, we will practice them for the next few weeks. It was a morning full of stories and music. Thank you to Anderson and Chanel's family for making this week's Shabbat celebration special. Yummy treats and warmth filled the air. We can't forget our Challah making, what would Room 12's Shabbat celebration be like without it. Reminders Please make sure you fill out the Temple/School Survey sent to your email accounts.
