Moms, Grandmothers and Aunts joined us all week long for a lot of exciting events filled the air. We started the week off with an Early Childhood Havdalah service. Taylor's mom and Dior and Sebastian's mom joined us. During circle time Ryder's mom and brother and Chloe's mom and sister came in to see our circle time. Havdalah put our class in a spiritual state of mine. With that feeling the children talked about what color they feel like on a Monday morning. We used those feelings and colors to create a Jackson Pollack inspired banner. Stop and look at our art creation on our front window. We freeze danced to Up Town Funk before enjoying our lunch.
Tuesday the children began creating their family trees out branches and bark. Relating the project to Shavuot and how the Torah is called the "Tree of Life", to the Jewish people. If you haven't sent in your family pictures, please email the us ASAP. Our butterflies all emerged from their cocoons and we have set them free in the elementary school garden. They flew out of their net home rather quickly flying off as the children said goodbye to them. Chloe's mom, sister and nanny joined us for library. We stayed in the classroom to read "If You Give a Mouse a Cookie". We all got cookies as a treat after the book, yum. Jasmine also read, "Peanut and Cupcake". The children enjoyed it so much that we ordered it for the classroom library. Thank you for introducing us to such a fun book. Wednesday was cooking day. We made fresh fruit salad and dirt cups with edible ladybugs. Jordan, Dior and Sebastian's moms joined us, we showed off our cutting and mixing skills. Thank you to Sunny for all the delicious fruit, Oreos and treats you brought in for us to cook with. Everything was so yummy, and we saved the dirt cups for after rest time. During lunch we had a visit from Anderson's mom, grandmother and her little sister Miller. The children loved getting to meet Miller and she was fascinated by all the activity once she adjusted to seeing so many children in one place. Lots of new faces trying to get their turn to touch her. Thursday was so much fun. Room 14 came to us for Rabbi Sari's visit and we heard a story about Mother's Day. Audrey and her mom read Polar Bear, Polar Bear to the class. Branden's mom spent the morning with us and joined in all our fun. Andrew couldn't join us however, Anja's mom and dad did music movement with our class. Blake's mom came in for the fun and entertainment. The children danced up a storm and giggled all through music time. We cannot thank Alejandra and Mario enough for the treat of music and dance in our room.
