Dear Ulpanon Aleph Parents, We have continued discussing Rosh Hashanah and the symbols. We’ve continued singing Tapuchim b’Dvash (Apples in Honey), Shanah Tovah (Happy New Year) and Tu Tu Tu Tokeah HaShofar (Tu Tu Tu Blow the Shofar) to name a few. The children have begun understanding some of the words that are used in the classroom often and are able to follow directions with a little help. They themselves have started to pick up on the Hebrew words using them themselves. Some of these words are mayim (water), naalaim (shoes), boker tov (good morning) shalom (hello, goodbye, peace). We end our day with a closing circle and the children have been singing goodbye to each other shalom _____ hazman l’hagid shalom (goodbye _____ it’s time to say goodbye) We had Art with Joanne where half the class began exploring with clay. Using their whole bodies, the children began to roll out the clay and manipulate the clay to make it into various shapes. We had Music with Marcos in the backyard where the children played the egg shakers and marched around behind Marcos as they sang various Rosh Hashanah songs. The children each all got the opportunity to play “leader” and their friends had to “do as I do”. During Music with Ditza the children had the opportunity to listen to the shofar and use “steering wheels” made out of paper to sing HaAuto Shelanu (Our car) and the Wheels on the Bus. This week we began both Yoga in our yoga studio with Cheryl and Storah with Rabbi Sari with our friends in room 13 where Rabbi Sari told the children a story about creation. Reminders: Please send girls to school with shorts/leggings under their dresses/skirts. Please dress your child in white next Friday, September 27th. No school on Monday, September 30th or Tuesday, October 1st in observance of Rosh Hashanah. Shabbat Shalom, Mira, Mira and Gali
