Shabbat Shalom everybody!
This week was a wonderful one filled with art and working on various skills. The students used a lot of large movements to enhance their gross motor skills. For example, we used big rolling pins to paint and squeezed glue bottles very hard going in circular motions over the sticks that we painted! Another big skill that we worked on was cutting! The kids got developmentally appropriate scissors and went away at different colored paper. There was lots of building with huge blocks on the yard, so the children have started getting an idea of at what height will something fall down. The kids also used the rain sticks that teacher Brock brought to music to activate their sense of hearing. Our question of the week related to our sense of smell. We incorporated this in numerous ways this week. The kids had lemon scented yellow play dough and most were able to identify this smell! We also used bean bags that are filled with coffee beans to review the different parts of our body and use our noses as well. We also got to use our noses with our new essential oils diffuser! We will be using different scented oils to help the children be able to differentiate the smells. Reminder: Wednesday the 28th is a half day, the students leave at 12. The remainder of Wednesday and Thursday the 29th are off for conferences. Everyone can expect a confirmation email about their conferences times. We will resume normal school hours on Friday the 30th. Have a wonderful weekend and Shabbat shalom! Best, Tatiana and Lashelle
