Dear Ulpanon Aleph Parents,
Thank you all for attending your conferences. We had meaningful conversations with you all. We went on a nature walk behind the Temple where the children picked up sticks, twigs, leaves and pinecones. We also ate snack out in the amphitheater back there as well. This week we worked on the color kahol (blue). We gave the children an opportunity to collage using blue objects, working on their fine motor skills. We cut open a delaat (pumpkin) and the children had the opportunity to explore the pumpkin by pulling out the seeds and strings in the pumpkin, feeling the gooey insides of the pumpkin as they took the seeds and placed them on a plate. We will clean and roast the seeds and offer it to the children to taste. We began to talk about the story of Bereshit (creation). We sang the song, “Yom Rishon Avoda” (Sunday, work). The children have been learning the days of the week, rishon (Sunday) sheni (Monday) shleshi (Tuesday), reviee (Wednesday), chamishi (Thursday), shishi (Friday), Shabbat (Saturday). We discussed how in the beginning there was only chosech (darkness) and then there was or (light). Some other vocabulary learned was shemesh (sun), yareach (moon), tzipor (bird), chayot (animals), ben (boy), bat (girl). One of the children said, “G-d made everything.” We started to talk about the Torah portion of Noah and the Ark. We talked about how there was a lot of rain and how Noah and his family built an ark and took two of each animal on the ark with them. We sang the song “L’Dod Noach” (Uncle Noah) to the tune of Old McDonald. We read the books “Noah’s Ark” by Peter Spier and “Noah’s Ark” by Lucy Cousins. We read the book Tiras Cham (hot corn) by Miriam Root. We rounded up our week with our weekly specialists, Music with Marcos, Art with JoAnne, Yoga with Cheryl and Music with Ditza. Thank you to Sheridan and her family who were our 1st Shabbat Family. Wishing you all a Shabbat Shalom, Gali, Mira and Miri Reminders: Aharon is our Shabbat boy, Friday, November 15th Wise Boutique Thursday, November 14th from 8 AM to 4:30 PM Monday, November 18th—No School for Professional Development Day
