Shalom Ulpanon Bet families,
This week began with Havdalah, led by Rabbi Josh and Jen, which is always such a beautiful way to say goodbye to Shabbat and hello to the new week. The children continued working on Hanukkah vocabulary by playing a Hanukkah bingo game and also a matching game. The children worked on their fine motor skills by rolling out plastilina (a tacky sort of clay) to make their own Hanukkiyot. Once they rolled out the plastilina, they carefully placed it down to make the body of the Hanukkiyah and then they made flames for their candles. Once completed all the children’s Hanukkiyot became our classroom Hanukkiyah. It is so colorful and is a beautiful display of all the children’s creativity. We completed our Hanukkah journal page and completed them with pictures of Hanukkah symbols. The children made their own Hanukkiyot to use at home. They counted out the number of tiles and nuts they would need for the candles and the Shamash and glued them both down before adding decorative tiles and some sparkle around the whole thing. They also helped pick the color tissue paper and wrapped their own gifts. The children also made svivonim (dreidels) out of CDs by putting stickers and coloring on the CD with markers. We had Music with Maestro where he sang a variety of songs including some Hanukkah songs and some body movement songs. We also enjoyed Music with Ditza where we sang Hanukkah songs. Thank you to Michelle, Asher and Rosie’s mom who was our Library reader this week and read us three books on Hanukkah. Raha was our Shabbat Ima. We also enjoyed visiting the Beit Issie Farmer’s Market. Reminders: Our class Hanukkah party will be on Tuesday, December 13th at 12 pm. All School Shabbat on Friday, December 16th.
