Shalom Ulpanon Bet families,
We hope you had a restful, happy Thanksgiving break. We finished talking about Thanksgiving last week and this week we began to discuss Hanukkah. We introduced Hannukah by putting out materials related to the holiday and increasing our vocabulary. The children played a matching game with Hanukkah pictures. Levivot (latkes), hanukkiyah, sufganiyot (jelly doughnuts), sevivon (dreidel), cad shemen (oil jar), maot Hanukkah (Hanukkah gelt/money) Beit HaMikdash (temple), ner (candle), Yehuda HaMaccabee (Judah the Maccabee). We had PE with Coach Danny and he taught the children a game called, “Scat.” The children all stood in a circle and each child had the opportunity to catch the ball and then roll it at their friends legs once the children all scattered out of the circle when Coach Danny called out “Scat!” The skills from this game that were learned were aiming, rolling, and strategy, trying to strategize how to aim the ball at the friends’ legs and then rolling it in their direction. The children had Music with Maestro and they were so excited to go to the Music Lab. They sat around the carpet with Maestro and he sang songs with them on his guitar. We went on a walk with the children to the visit the administrative team and invite them to our Hanukkah party (Tuesday, December 13 at 12 pm). We have been working on structure and the children have used various means (magnetiles, blocks) to work on this. The children also worked on cutting a strip of paper and writing their names in Hebrew on the paper. Thank you to Jennifer, Aaron’s mom who was our Library reader this week and read us two books on Hanukkah. We had Rabbi Josh he retold the Hanukkah story and talked about how at the end th jewish people were able to clelebrate Shabbat and eat challah. THANK YOU! for the wonderful Hebrew children book, we truly appreciated and belive that litrature is amazing tool to teach a language Logan was Shabbat Aba. Reminders: Tot Shabbat is next Friday, December 9th. Please be sure to RSVP online no later than Monday, December 5th. Jason Mesches (who also plays with the Beat Buds) will be performing!
