Shalom Ulpanon Bet Families, This week in Ulpanon Bet the children were busy creating and identifying patterns - “Tavniyot”. Teaching patterns is an integral step in the children’s learning process. The recurring elements of patterns are predictable, repetitive and ordered. As the children move beyond simple identification of patterns to defining the cause and effect of a pattern, they connect the patterns to their daily routines and expand their critical thinking skills. The children are discovering how patterns can be different. In class they used 2, 3, and 4 color shaped patterns on their individual journal pages. They also created a pattern chain from manipulative links. We talked about patterns that are not always noticeable but that occur daily or monthly, such as days of the week, or months of the year. The children have expressed growing interest in expanding their number recognition and writing of the numbers. We are providing them with expanded activities to support them: Dice games, rote counting boards, practice with dry erase boards, and more. We continued to discuss “Arba Onot” - the four seasons of the year; the children are enjoying singing the song and we have been sharing the weather of each season. We are looking forward to changing weather patterns soon. The link to the song can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fm_WG-Q-EaA The children had a blast playing a new game in P.E. with Coach Danny. “Rolling Dodge Ball”, with its aiming, rolling, and jumping is a new favorite. Music with Ditza was magical! After singing songs about Noah’s Ark and rainbows, the children expended the experience by “Dod Moshe” (old McDonald’s…) and used their large motor skills to dance and create rainbow with a big streamer. In Ulpanon Bet we have a daily story time, the book monitor is choosing the book to be read .We will post some of the book choice on pics on this Weebly page. Please note that we will have a pajama fun day on Tuesday, November 7th in class to coincide with the WPA EC Pajama event that is scheduled for the same day. More details will be provided next week.
