Shabbat Shalom!
This week, we continued to discuss Passover and the values behind it. Each day as a class and on Thursday with Rabbi Josh during Torah Talk. We had conversations about the holiday and the different characters who are a part of the story. Aside from just learning the story, we focused upon the value of kindess or chesed. Was King Pharaoh a kind person? What makes someone kind? Is it important to be kind? What are ways we can be kind to our friends and our family? The more the children can relate to the characters and the values within the story, the more they will take away from discussions. Of course, we have also been reading books, singing songs and cooking, using matzah as a main ingredient. While making matzah pizza, the children had fun pouring and spreading the tomato sauce and then sprinkling on the cheese. By the end of the day, the pizza was completely devoured. This week, we also finished creating our own Seder Plate Book. During yard time, we continue to observe the children engaging in cooperative play. They are independently negotiating with one another, taking turns and working together. Often, they can be seen building sandcastles, baking cakes and cookies or riding bikes. Each day, our friends come in excited to see one another and continue to build long-lasting and meaningful friendships. On Wednesday, we had a practice Lockdown Drill. We all went into the bathroom, turned off all the lights, locked the door and sat very quietly. The children fully cooperated and understood we practice this “game” from time to time to remind each other how to safely gather in one room and remain quiet. We listened for the “all clear” to signify the end of the drill. Our friends were very proud of themselves, as were we. Today was Noa’s special Shabbat. We also celebrated Noa's birthday a week early. Thnk you to the Firstenberg-Khazaei Family for snack and celebrating with us.
