In room 23 this week it was Matzo madness. All week the children have been learning about this traditional Passover treat. The children got to try out new and different ways of eating Matzo. On Wednesday the children made their own Matzo pizza for snack. Cooking with children is a great way to discuss nutrition, our different senses, as well as different food groups. We also read two stories about Matzo during circle time. The first book was called, The Mouse in the Matzo Factory. This book was about the actual matzo making process through the eyes of a mouse that lived in a factory that was busy making Matzo to get ready for Passover. We also read the book, The Matzo Man. This a fun story about a man made entirely of matzo. Storytime at school provides the children the opportunity to think creatively and to learn new vocabulary. The children were also busy preparing a top secret Passover item that they will take home to use during their own family Passover Seder. We have also continued to practice the Passover story and songs for our very exciting classroom Seder. The children are beyond excited for the Mommies and Daddies to join us in the classroom for our Passover celebration, so they can show you all the hard work they have been doing these past weeks.
