This week was a week of Hanukkah celebration in Room 23. The children had been practicing for two weeks in preparations for the big event. It was so much fun to have the moms and dads join us for an afternoon of singing, praying, and eating together. Thank you so much to all the parents for celebrating with us and contributing to our festive Hanukkah food and décor. Wishing everyone a happy Hanukkah and a happy healthy new year! We can’t wait to see everyone again at school on January 6th.
Each day our friends in room 22 have been joining us for circle time to tell the story of Hanukkah. Building community and learning how to be a part of a community is a huge part of the Discoverer’s cirriculum. This teaches the children that they are now 1 part of a bigger picture and their behavior not only effects themselves but everyone that is a part of their community. After hearing the hanukkah story some of the children even rebuilt the Temple out of blocks. Building helps the children learn how to problem solve, and how to create and re-create patterns. The children were also practicing all of the Hanukkah blessings in preparation of our Hanukkah party and their family celebrations at home. Shabbat Shalom, Courtney, Ren and Debbie
