This week was full of Purim fun. The children had a chance to make many different creations for Purim. They used paper plates to make pretend Hamantashen, and triangle hats for Haman. Others worked on making crowns and kippot to wear to Shabbat. When children have the opportunity to paint or glue they exercise their imagination and creativity. They are also learning concepts of shape, size, color and location. These activities help strengthen hand-eye coordination, experience different textures, and have an acceptable way to make a mess and have fun.
Monday – We had a fun and snugly pajama day. The children played with baby dolls, stuffed animals and doctor kits all while pretending to a family of people and animals. For art some of the children strung beads to make beautiful bracelets and necklaces. We also made our own trail mix, of course complete with chocolate chips and marshmallows. Tuesday – The classroom was buzzing with super power energy all day. The children spent time pretending to save and help each other, both inside and out. We also created 3 cornered Haman hats with silver and black paint. Wednesday – WOW! Crazy hair day was hair rising. Only a few children came with crazy hair, but we don’t care. In class we spent time building castles out of blocks and painted kippot in honor of Mordechai at the art center. We also took a trip to Shushan in yoga. We got to visit with all the Purim characters along with a new yoga pose to go with it. Thursday – PURIM PARTY in the temple, what fun. In the art center they created beautiful crowns to be kings and queens. The children also had an opportunity to see the Purim story in action, complete with all the Purim characters. While Ditza played the guitar, Rabbi told the story and the teachers acting out the story of Purim. We danced, sang songs and enjoyed a wonderful Purim experience. Friday – This was our final day of celebrating Purim. For Shabbat this week we all had an amazing time dressing-up and attending Shabbat services.
