This week, the children were busy preparing for Passover. In the art center the children have been painting pyramids and working with different types of art materials such as glue and sand to create our main Passover bulletin board. This allows the children to experience working with different textures. Gluing is also the beginning of sequencing because the process itself requires two steps; gluing then placing the object on a surface.
We have also added a new Passover themed center in our room , the sand table. At the center you can find desert creatures hiding under the sand and even fake cacti. When the children play at the sand table they learn to create patterns and symbols in the sand that help them when they begin to read and write. The children also have been practicing the Passover story every day at circle time with our next doors neighbors in Room 22 so we would be prepared for our Seder this week in the classroom. We were so excited for all the families to come and celebrate this holiday with us. Due to the late cold and flu season, starting next week on Monday each child is to wash their hands upon entering the classroom. What this means is that when you arrive with your child to school each day you will take them to wash their hands before they start their day in class. We really appreciate your help with this. We are trying hard to keep germs at bay as much as possible. *REMINDERS* - Spring Break - April 15th -26th - Library: April 29th Michelle & Ronit
