This week in room 23 was amazing. It is so wonderful to see the children settling into their new classroom and teachers, and saying good-bye to their grown-up each morning. During music, Marcos introduced the children to some new songs related to the holidays, and the children marched to the beat with bells and tambourines. We also had our first yoga class with teacher Cheryl. The children were able to use their bodies to create many different moments and shapes related to people we see in our communities, such as a firefighter, veterinarian or a teacher. Being able to have this experience allows children to enhance their flexibility, strength, coordination, body awareness as well as foster cooperation and compassion. We are so excited that yoga will be a weekly experience. This week we have also been taking walks on our rope to get the children ready for our visits to the Temple for Shabbat, and other activities we will be having all over our beautiful campus.
Next week we will continue our study of Rosh Hashanah and share about all the traditions like dipping apples in honey and hearing the Shofar blast. We will also continue our investigations on the differences between the many different types of apples, like those the children brought into class already. If you haven’t yet brought in an apple, we still need just a few yellow apples for the class.
