With Hanukkah starting on Sunday, we have began to discuss with the kids the Festival Of Lights! We have read books about Hanukkah, let the children explore candles and real menorahs, talked about the yummy foods we eat (like latkas, apple sauce and gelt!), they've spun dreidels, and we ate yummy latkas for snack. Some words we have learned: *Hanukkah- the Holiday we celebrate *Latkas- potato pancakes *Gelt- chocolate coins *Shamash- the helper candle on the Menorah Reminders:
Our Hanukkah party is Wednesday, December 9th at 11:15 am. Please bring the food you signed up for, on that day. Thank you! Farmers market is Friday the 11th, Our classroom is assigned cut grapes, please bring them in by Thursday. Thank you. The children like 'shopping at the market' items will be sold for $1 each. Last Farmers market we enjoyed a delicious picnic with fresh fruit cups! Our Hanukkah Tot Shabbat is on Friday evening, December 11th at 5:30 pm. Enjoy a Shabbat service with Rabbi Josh and Ditza, along with a community candle lighting, a traditional Hanukkah dinner and tremendous fun afterwards with the BEAT BUDS!!!!
