The festival of lights is approaching fast and room 23 has been celebrating and preparing all week! The children are excited for our upcoming Hanukkah party and each day they continue to learn and practice the story of Hanukkah with our neighbors in room 22. This week we have focused on the blessings and practiced lighting the first candle in class together. The children have also been working on various art projects that require them to work on different skills. One of our dreidle art projects used real dreidles dipped in paint that the children spun on their paper to create interesting petterns and designs. This project helps the children practice their fine motor skills as well as hand eye coordination.
We were very fortunate this week to have two exciting events this week. Aaron’s mom came to teach us about dental care and oral hygene and gave a lesson on proper teeth brushing to the children. We also celebrated Mia’s third birthday with cupcakes and the birthday story! It was a blast and the children always have a great time celebrating their friends turning one year older. This Friday children also had the opportunity to visit the Wise Farmer’s Market! Visiting the Farmers market is a great way to open up discussions about nutrition and food groups with the children. We also take the time to discuss some of the senses involved with trying fruits such as taste and smell. Every child got to pick a yummy fruit or vegetable to eat! It was a lot of fun!
