Dear Parents,
It has been such a pleasure this week to have met with all of you and discuss how far all of the children have come! We are so grateful to have such a wonderful class. Thank you to everyone for your time and again, if you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us. This week was extra exciting because we have really immersed ourselves in Purim! The children spent time on Tuesday and Wednesday making hamentashen with different flavors. We got to review basic shapes, cutting the dough into a circle and shaping it into a triangle, and we are both so pleased to see how much the students remember! We have continued reviewing the story through songs, felt stories and tabletop toys that resemble the characters. We hear the children singing the Purim songs when we are on the yard and got to hear about how they sing some of them at home! It is exciting to watch their ability to remember increase as time goes on. The children have also been introduced to new art materials that require a tighter, pincer grip to either paint or draw. We have been working on continuing to strengthen these fine motor skills and around the classroom there will be pictures posted early next week. Their fine motor development is also being practiced when the children have been peeling stickers off of the paper to create a larger image. This is an idea that can be implemented at home: peeling off their own stickers forces them to strengthen their thumb and index finger, which is helping in pre-writing skills. Reminders: The Purim carnival is this Sunday March 20th here at Wise School. If you need information on tickets, please call the main office and they can relay that information to you. On Monday March 21st at 9:30am there is a school-wide Havdalah service in the main sanctuary. We will be leaving our classroom at 9:20 to attend and parents are welcome to join if you would like. Also, since Thursday the 24th is Purim, Friday March 25th is our Purim themed Shabbat! The children can dress up as they would like, however masks are not allowed according to school policy. Have a wonderful weekend and we look forward to seeing everybody on Monday. Best wishes, Tatiana and Lashelle
