Dear Parents,
This week had a heavy focus on the upcoming holiday of Purim! The children have become so excited about the new dress up clothes and have started acting out some of the characters that are in the Purim story, such as a queen, king and Haman. We have discussed the shape of Haman’s hat and related it to our study of basic shapes, since it is in the shape of a triangle. The children have been seeing triangles in many places around the classroom! We have triangles shaped toys at the table top stations, triangle shaped blocks and we have even been finding triangles in some of the children’s lunches. We also made groggers this week! The children have been practicing saying “boo” when they hear Haman’s name during the telling of the Purim story, which we do on a daily basis. As you can see in the pictures in the slideshow above, during circle time we have begun playing more games that involve numbers! This week, we collaboratively assembled a puzzle-version of the Eric Carl book The Hungry Caterpillar in which each piece had a number on it and a picture of that many items. We started and finished the puzzle together and everybody was able to help their friends identifying numbers! It was wonderful to see the children continue to bond more and more every day. Reminder: Parent-teacher conferences are next Wednesday March 16th and Thursday March 17th. If you need confirmation about when your time is, please feel free to contact either teacher and we can let you know. Wednesday March 16th will be a half day and pick up will be at 12pm. There will be no school on Thursday March 17th. School will resume Friday March 18th. Also, the Purim carnival will be on Sunday March 20th! The school is looking for people to donate baked goods, so if you have any interest in this please reach out to Lashelle or myself and we will get you in touch with the right person. Have a great weekend! Best wishes, Tatiana and Lashelle
