Dear Parents,
We hope that everyone had as wonderful of a week as we did! We have continued our focus on the five senses, however this week we focused primarily on smelling and hearing. The children have been strengthening their fine motor skills in their hands by peeling off small stickers related to things that we hear to decorate an ear. They have also been strengthening their hands in general by beginning to use glue bottles that are more challenging and require both hands squeezing. We will have this project available next week to look at displayed in our classroom. One way that we have incorporated the sense of smell is by smelling different scents at circle time. The students have been improving their ability to sit still and listen to instructions. Because of this improvement, we were able as a class to smell different essential oils and tea bags. We also used the tea bags for painting, which is something that is easy to do with household items by mixing some paint with water and using a dry tea bag to splatter paint on the page! We were able to take a field trip around the campus and smell the different flowers that grow as well as the many herbs that are planted in our various gardens. Another art project that we did that the students will be able to see every day was decorating a terracotta pot to plant the wonderful herbs that Reese and his family brought last week for Shabbat! The students will be able to watch the plants grow in a pot that they personalized and soon we can use them for cooking Passover-themed food! We will begin going over Passover material next week, so we will let you all know the question of the week as it relates to Passover to help the children work on their ability to recall. Reminder: There are only two weeks left before spring break! Please make sure to check your child’s box at school and replenish any new clothes or diapers/pull-ups that they may need for the next couple of weeks. Also, our class Passover Seder is on April 13th. Starting on Monday April 4th, there will be a sign up sheet in the front of our classroom for the food for our Passover Seder, which parents are welcome to attend! Thank you and have a great weekend! Best wishes, Tatiana and Lashelle
