Dear Parents,
We hope that you all had a wonderful week. Your children were busy in school preparing for Israel's birthday on Thursday. Our artwork involved using various materials in blue and white. The students made flags with paint, used new thinner markers (for fine motor development) and ripped pieces of streamers to decorate a banner for Israel’s birthday. We are very grateful for all of the food that everybody brought for our Yom Ha’atzma'ut celebration. The students learned the value of trying everything once before making the decision if they like it or not. Although not every student loved all of the food, everybody tried the snacks and sat together in a picnic with the other Discoverers classes. The students also brought their flags to the celebration and we incorporated content by playing Simon says with the directionality of the flag, such as hold the flag above your head. During circle time, we spent some time discussing different landmarks in Israel, the types of animals that live in the Israeli desert, and the different types of people that live in that very small, but very important country. Our question of the week, which we will reinforce again next week, is, “What in the Dead Sea makes you float?” (Answer: a lot of salt) Reminders: We are coming to the end of school. Please be sure to check your child’s cubby to take home their artwork that we will be sending home. If you would like pictures of your child and the class from throughout the year, be sure to bring Lashelle or me USB drive by May 25th. There is a Tot Shabbat on Friday, May 20th at 5:30pm in Hershenson Hall. Thank you for a wonderful week and we will see everybody on Monday. Best wishes, Tatiana and Lashelle
