Introducing Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur What wonderfully busy and exciting two weeks we have had! Last week was all about new beginnings. We learned each other’s names and new routines, introduced the children to new Hebrew words and new songs in Hebrew. Hebrew Vocabulary: Rosh – Head Shanah – Year Rosh Hashanah – New Year Tapuach/ Tapuchim – An apple/Apples Gadol – Big Beynoni – Medium Katan – Small Tapuach Gadol / Beynoni / Katan – Big / Medium / Large apple D’vash – Honey Tapuchim Be D’vash – Apples dipped in honey Shofar The children had music class with Andrew and Ditza, made Rosh Hashanah center pieces and greeting cards to take home, and played in the front and back yards. This week we went over the Hebrew words that were introduced last week, talked about the Shofar, friends and friendships. Hebrew vocabulary: Tsahov – Yellow, Adom – Red, Yarok - Green Reminders: Please cut hotdogs, grapes, olives and small tomatoes when sending lunch, and send wipes. Next Tuesday is a noon dismissal, Wednesday there is NO school in observance of Yom Kippur and on Thursday the day starts at 10am.
