Dear Ulpanon Aleph Parents,
This week we worked on the color zahov, yellow. We gave the children an opportunity to collage using yellow objects on a piece of yellow construction paper, working on their fine motor skills. We sang the song “patish masemer” (hammer nail). We opened up the little Torah in our classroom and Mira read some of the words written inside. The children each held the yad (hand/the pointer finger) of the Torah which they learned is used to touch the scroll since we are not allowed to touch it with our fingers. The Torah has a simla (dress), chagoora (belt), and sharsheret (necklace). Rabbi Sari also met the children in the Sukkah where she talked to the children about the holiday and spoke to them about the lulav (palm branch). The children also recited the blessings for the Sukkah (to sit in the sukkah, to shake the lulav and shecheyanu) The children painted with watercolors using small brushes and working on their fine motor skills. They worked on painting and washing the brush before moving on to another color. Thank you to Jenna, Emma’s mom, for being our 1st Library reader. We rounded up the week with our weekly specialists, Rabbi Sari, Yoga with Cheryl and Music with Ditza. Friday ended with our Shabbat service where we sang and danced around as well as our 1st Beit Issie Farmer’s Market. Thank you for bringing in the berries that were enjoyed by all! Reminders: No school on Monday, October 21st in observance of Shemini Atzeret. Shabbat Shalom, Mira, Miri and Gali
