Dear Parents,
This week has been extra exciting because Purim was on Thursday. We also had our dress-up Shabbat service with Ditza in honor of Purim and we were so impressed with how well the students knew the story. It has been a joy getting to sing the songs with the children, to hear them remember the names and events of the story, as well as to watch them dress up as the characters in the dramatic play area of our classroom. We also had our all-school Havdalah service on Monday. This was such a great experience to see the children so interested in something that most of them have yet to hear about. The sense of community was strong and it was great to hear the children ask questions about what was happening. The children spent time this week practicing their fine motor skills by making hamentashen out of paper plates and tissue paper. By using their fingers to crinkle the tissue paper, the students really worked the smaller muscles in their hands. We have also continued to use our “movement cube,” which has different stretches/actions on various side. We worked out with it every day this week! The students take turns throwing the “dice” that have the movements on one and a length of time to perform the action on the other. If you would like to see what we have made to see if you can make it at home, feel free to ask us and we can show you. It was pretty easy and the kids really love it. Reminders: We will be having another farmers market on Thursday March 31st. Please bring a whole banana, NOT sliced, by next Wednesday March 30th. Also, please be sure to drop off some money for your child to purchase something at the farmers market. Items begin at $1. Have a great weekend! We look forward to seeing everybody on Monday. Best wishes, Tatiana and Lashelle
