This week the children worked on their fine and gross motor skills in the art area. One project that focused on strengthening fine motor skills and developing a strong pincer grasp was painting with Q-tips. Another project using markers attached to toy cars helped strengthen their gross motor skills and hand eye coordination. These art projects help all the necessary muscles get ready for gripping and using a pencil correctly.
We also had a special guest visit the classroom this week to teach the children about Sova. Natialie Bral from the WPA came and read a book called, Joey and the Giant Box. About a boy who did an amazing Mitzvah with just a box and great idea. During circle time we introduced our next holiday, Tu’BShevat, the birthday of the trees. We started talking about some of the important things trees give us as well as how they provide homes for many different types of animals, shade and food for humans and animals. We also read the story of, The Giving Tree, by Shel Silverstein and The Littlest Tree, by Sylvia Rouss. This week on Shabbat we were joined by our Shabbat boy Caleb. It was so nice to walk to temple together and celebrate Shabbat together. Shabbat Shalom, Courtney, Cindy, and Ari *REMINDERS* - All children with diapers need more next week - Picture Day February 2nd - Father's/Grandfather's week February 6th-10th
