This week was a short but fun week. The children were busy exploring new and old activities, strengthening their friendships, and learning and perfecting skills. Many of the children enjoyed creating art projects from paint, markers or glue, while others were constructing large buildings or forests from different types of blocks.
In the coming weeks in honor of Tu B’Shevat we will be learning about trash and recycling. The children have already gathered different bins to begin recycling in class. We will be learning the importance of recycling and how it helps us and our world. We will also be discussing what can and cannot be recycled. Recycling is good for the environment. Recycling also contributes significantly to a healthy economy as it creates jobs as well as products to be sold. Sharing this information with kids and inviting them to go green teaches valuable skills such as responsibility. Recycling also teaches children (and adults) to care about the environment and understand that resources are not limitless. Children can practice identifying what materials should be recycled, sort them and place them in the appropriate bin. Your kids can take what they learn at school and make their own separate bins for recycling paper, plastic, aluminum, and glass and then help you sort recyclables at home. To help us with this project please send your children to school with items that they can put in our bins in class. They can bring paper, cardboard, plastic bottles, and aluminum cans.
