This week the children dove into the Holiday of Simchat Torah. Simchat Torah celebrates the conclusion of the annual cycle of public Torah readings, and the beginning of a new cycle. During circle time we discussed the anatomy of a Torah from the Etz- Chaim(the wooden handles that hold the parchment) to the Yad (a small hand that is used to read from the Torah). We then had the opportunity to visit the Torah’s in the temple and carry out the mitzvah of kissing the Torah. Rabbi Josh met us in the temple to open up a real Torah and tell us more about the why the holiday of Simchat Torah is so special.
Shabbat Shalom Cindy and Courtney
