Our week was short but sweet!
We have been exploring new materials and concepts in our classroom. We have our Feed the Animals game, in which you sort different foods (bones, bananas, and carrots) into the mouths of the corresponding animal that eats that food (dog, monkey, and bunny). Not only does this engage their critical thinking, but the children are working on their fine motor skills by using tweezers to sort the items. Tweezers exercise the muscles needed for gripping crayons, markers, etc. It also takes hand-eye coordination to pick up these small items and to feed it through the animals mouth. We also put foam stickers out, which we have used before. Now, however, we are encouraging the class to peel the backs off themselves. We are working on promoting independence in many areas. We have started asking the children to ask for a friends help with certain tasks before coming to a teacher. These tasks include putting a jacket on, taking off shoes, and peeling stickers. It is so amazing to watch our friends helping each other with such enthusiasm as they build friendships through shared victories. Thank you so much for your generosity with Sova and Tzedakah. The children get so excited to put the food in the bin at the temple each week.
