This week we continued learning about Passover. There are so many different traditions and symbols to explore, and the class has engaged with them all enthusiastically.
At our art table, we painted pyramids and talked about how the Jewish people had to work without resting (and how they had to bang, bang, bang, bang your hammers low). We also made charoset. This was a great activity because everyone had to focus as they cut the apple into very small pieces, which develops even further their fine motor skills. We also washed babies and talked about how Moses floated down the river when he was a baby. In yoga class, our adventure took us to Egypt, where we talked about the different characters in relation to yoga poses. For example, we made our bodies into the shape of a triangle and talked about how Pharoah loved pyramids. Moses carried a staff, so we lay on the floor and put our legs in the air. As we play and spend time together as a class, we have seen how the children are understanding the story of Passover. When we talk about how Moses asked Pharoah to let his people go, the class loves to yell "no, no, no!" and they especially love to sing the frog song. As we have talked more and more about Passover, we have seen how their understanding of the details and characters has increased. We hope you enjoy the matzah covers your beautiful children worked so hard to make! You can use them at your Passover table so that your child knows they helped to contribute to the Seder. Keep them for years to come (Teacher Julia just found hers from preschool)! Have a restful and fun spring break and chag sameach! We can't wait to see you and your children in 2 weeks. We will see you on the 29th!
