This week we took an exciting trip to the Synagogue to look at the Torahs. We talked about how the Torah is a long story about the Jewish people, and on the special holiday of Shavuot we got the Torah from G-d. There were 5 different Torahs in the arc, they each had unique beautiful coverings. The Torahs were so big!
In the classroom we opened the small Torah. We saw all the Hebrew words and learned how we don’t touch the Torah with our hands. Rabbi Josh discussed with us, the holiday is a pilgrimage holiday as well as the holiday in which we celebrate receiving the commandments/Torah at Mount Sinai. There is a wonderful Midrash that says that when Moses came down from the Mountain and the Israelites accepted the commandments as their own, Mount Sinai became covered in flowers. This is a great holiday for dairy cooking as well as tasting fresh fruits. On Wednesday, we had an Ice Cream Party with the whole building! Each classroom came together to celebrate Shavuot and the end of the year. It was great to celebrate with all the friends from all the different classrooms. It has been wonderful seeing the friendships bloom with friends in other classes. We hope everyone can join us for the End of The Year Lunch Party on Tuesday, June 6th at 12:00.
