Dear Parents, Welcome back! We hope you all had a nice, restful Spring Break! The children seemed to grow over break!! This week the children made butterflies, by painting with bopper style brushes on coffee filters. We then put a clothespin in the middle of the filter to make it look like a butterfly. Between the butterflies on our wall and the flowers the children made before the break, our room is looking beautiful and springy! We read the book, “Good Night Israel,” by Mark Jasper and Anne Rosen. We talked about how Israel is having a birthday next week and will be turning 70 years old, and how we are going to celebrate with the friends from the other classes in our building. We went on a nature walk by the elementary school office, and counted all the Israeli flags we saw on our way. We stopped to look at the fruits and vegetables growing in the garden, and saw how the strawberries were starting to sprout. The children made Israeli flags by gluing down two blue strips of paper and dipping a star cookie cutter in blue paint and putting it in the center of a white piece of paper. When we asked the children what they saw on the flag, some of the answers were that they thought it was a dreidel, a triangle (the Magen David), it’s a flag, an American flag, and an Israel star. We made a blue and white collage on white paper, using different blue things, stickers the children had to peel the backs off of, blue squares of paper, and blue yarn that the children had to glue onto the white paper. We had a beautiful Shabbat service with Ditza and Rabbi Josh where the children enjoyed singing Bim Bam and On My Way to Shul to name a few. Shabbat Shalom, Gali, Erika and Debbie Reminders: Please dress in blue and white on Thursday, April 19 AND Friday, April 20th in honor of Yom Ha’atzmaut, Israeli Independence Day.
