Dear Families,
Fall is here! The air is crisp and the leaves are falling down. Turning from green to red to orange and brown...nature walks here we come! The warm weather continues to afford us water play and explore a variety of sensory rich, messy art activities. Please remember to dress your children in clothing appropriate for getting messy. A child who comes home stained in paint and with play-dough or gak in their hair had a busy and fun day at school. We are working on strengthening our children's core and upper body muscles, especially their shoulders and forearms. Practicing downward dogs, bridges or tabletops is one way we’ve incorporated this into our day. We are also strengthening their fine-motor skills, especially their pincer grasp, which is a fundamental pre-writing skill. We develp our fine-motor skills while playing with toys, which utilize implements such as: tongs, clothespins and large egg shaped crayons. Practicing self-help skills is also an important part of our routine each day. Both putting on and taking off our own shoes and socks is a huge milestone for each child. Practicing this at home as well as at school is helpful in building their self-esteem and creating more independent children. A win-win for all! Also inspired by fall, we baked pumpkin bread with chocolate chips. Please enjoy some photos of us in action. Stay Tuned for more Fall inspired art and cooking! Happy Fall! Shabbat Shalom, Elizabeth and Marloes
