Hello Parents!
This week we had a different type of art center. We placed blank paper on the floor with different drawing materials: pencils, crayons, markers, etc. Drawing on the floor is a wonderful muscle activity to help your child’s core. The children are learning to develop a pincher grasp and control pressure while using the tools. Drawing on the floor, while laying on their stomach, is a great way to promote muscle development in their arms, stomach and fingers. In room 24 we starting to introduce Thanksgiving. We have a variety of books and manipulatives that children have been exploring in the class. We are focusing on what we are thankful for, kindness, sharing, and giving. We started a discussion on what we love, each child could express their own ideas. We will continue this discussion through Thanksgiving and throughout the year. On Wednesday, we had two drills; a duck-and-cover (earthquake), and evacuation (fire) drill. While playing outside, we heard the alarms go off. We talked about keeping our bodies safe while going under the tables. And then we walked across campus to the school meeting spot. The children were fantastic! They held hands and were great listeners during the drills. It is important for staff and students to be prepared, and we are so proud of them! Reminders: * Please bring in your Thanksgiving food on Monday, November 21st. * There is no school Wednesday the 23rd-Friday the 25th on observance of Thanksgiving. Thank you Ashley & Debbie
