Hanukkah is in the air and Winter break is almost here! Our friends in Room 24 have grown so much since the beginning of the school year. As the children continue to explore and play, they are learning many important skills and concepts. Play is how children naturally learn and play provides the foundation for academic learning. Through the different centers in our classroom, learning is always taking place. For example, our friends are learning to count by putting Hanukkah candles into the “Hanukkiyah”. Concepts of one-to-one correspondence, many and few, more and less are the beginnings of addition and subtraction. They may not be able to articulate their mathematical abilities, but we can see them blossoming as they organize, count and share their candles! They are also learning about shapes, sizes, colors and patterns through block building. Take a moment to watch your child at play in class and notice how much they’ve grown! Mondays with Brock continues to be one of the highlights of our week. The children love singing and dancing. As we sing and dance, we are learning about rhythm, movement, taking turns, and following instructions. Each week we sing the ABC's, as well as, the Aleph Bet. We also learned some awesome Hanukkah songs in hebrew and english. We are looking forward to our Hanukkah party on Wednesday at 11:15. Thank you to Makize and Easton for snack this week. Everyone loved the watermelon! We hope you have a great weekend! Shabbat Shalom, Sue and Judy RemindersEC Enrichment/Extended day Registration
