Dear Room #12 Parents,
We hope all of you had a wonderful President’s Day with your friends and family. This week, we introduced the story of Purim to your children. They met the main characters, through a flannel board at circle-time. We talked about the town of Shushan where everyone lived. Next came King Ahasuerus, Queen Vashti (who never wanted to dance at all the parties she attended because she always had a headache); we introduced Mordechai; his beautiful,Jewish cousin, Esther, (who soon becomes the new queen), and of course there was the evil character, Haman (BOO). We discussed the huge party everyone participated in after mean Haman was forced to leave the town of Shushan. Your children made groggers all on their own after our discussion regarding why they are used during this holiday. We felt the activity enabled the children to exercise their. We therefore chose a project which might seem simple to an adult, but a bit difficult for your children. The children were given rolls of tape, scissors, and beans. They were instructed to either cut or tear the tape, then wrap it around the small empty water bottles they were given. Their next task was to count the number of beans they wanted to put in the bottle, and finally, they attempted to screw on the bottle top. It was a wonderful exercise that enabled them to use their fine motor skills and the counting of the beans represented a very basic pre-math skill. Tuesday was picture day for Room #12. Your children all had beautiful smiles on their faces, and honestly, everything went incredibly smooth. We hope all of you LOVE viewing all the pictures when they arrive. As always, we enjoyed music with Teacher Brock. We started singing Purim songs along with Brock and his guitar. We also all stood up and did a bit of dancing. What fun we had! A few reminders….please check your children’s extra clothing supply. Just this week, we tried to change a child’s T-shirt, and realized it was way too small. Next week is Father’s and Grandfather’s week. We are looking forward to see all the Father’s and Grandfather’s that are able to attend. It is always an exciting week for both the adults as well as the children. We hope all of you have a wonderful weekend as we say, Shabbat Shalom Cindy & Miriam
