This week we continued working on our thanksgiving unit by helping the children be aware of what they are thankful for. We are having many discussions about how it is very important to model how grateful we are for little things, such as good morning or goodbye or thank you when given something, so that they will in turn appreciate things naturally without being reminded to say please or thank you or even good morning.
We read the book “Count Your Blessings” by Debbi Boone, which points out little everyday things that we need to be thankful for. It shows us that your mindset will influence how you feel and see the world around you. If you are happy you will see the blessings that you have. It is beautiful to see the children come up with things that they are greatful for, from hugs from mom or smiles when they share with their siblings. We love hearing all their stories. We are also continuing to work on vertical writing skills which use core muscle strength and eye hand coordination as well as spatial awareness. Please come in our room and see how hard at work your children have been. The children are still practicing their names and have now moved onto finding the letter in their names using tiles and blocks, and learning how the letters are put together to make words.
