Dear Parents,
Our week started off with a beautiful Havdalah service with our all of our Explorer friends and the dads/grandfathers that joined as well. This week, we continued to explore your children’s creativity skills by using a new variety of materials to create a person. They used a half of a paper towel roll as the body and got to pick from the rest what they wanted to use as eyes, nose, ears, hair and anything else they wanted to create. Stay tuned for all the final products! Your children have also been showing an interest in coloring more intricate coloring pages, where they are focusing on coloring within the lines and taking their time. Not only does this work on their patience, but on their fine motor skills as well. We made a new batch of playdough and they have been busy working away and creating different shapes and building their own creations. To further strengthen their fine motor skills, they have been building with the small legos, some working independently and some choosing to work with a friend to create something bigger. For our floor time activity, we set down all the tushy mats and provided each child with small legos. They were asked to use only the legos they were given and to build something quietly until we were all done. For thirty minutes, your children sat quietly and worked independently and then each child was given an opportunity to share what they built and any details about it that they wanted to share with their peers. We are going to continue to work on our emergent curriculum through various manipulatives and activities in a way where your children are encouraged to work quietly while completing an individual task. Rabbi Sari joined us for a beautiful lesson and story about how the Temple is not necessarily the importance of it being just a Temple, but rather the people that bring the light into it and the community it provides. Thank you to all the dad’s, grandfather’s and mom’s too that joined us on Friday to play in our room in the morning and join us in such a special Shabbat service. We truly appreciate you being a part of it! Hope you all have a great weekend and Shabbat Shalom! REMINDERS: Monday, Feb. 18th- NO SCHOOL- President’s day. Tuesday, Feb. 19th- NO SCHOOL
