Dear Parents of Room 15,
We have spent this week working on “getting to know you” and Rosh Hashanah. Your children have been learning to recognize their name, remembering their friends’ names and how to introduce themselves. Since Rosh Hashanah is quickly approaching, our lesson has been on growing! Rosh means “head,” and the children have learned that similar to our head being at the top, or beginning, of our body, Rosh Hashanah is the beginning of the new year. We have also been discussing what types of food we eat for the New Year, why we dip apples into honey and the children have also spent time drawing their own apples. Rabbi Josh came to talk with us about Rosh Hashanah and he will be joining us every Thursday for a wonderful lesson. Andrew also joined us this week for music. We learned a few new songs and had a blast playing all the instruments. Of course, we are enjoying exploring and playing on our new playground, Wise Woods. Your children have been running, climbing, building and playing in the sand, and they are continuing to build and develop friendships. A big part of our day takes place during our circle time where we talk about being kind. We remind the children that in order for others to be kind to you, you need to kind first (kindness begins with me). During circle time, we are learning many new songs, reading lots of stories about Rosh Hashanah and being kind, learning the days of the week and counting. We talk about who is at school, who is absent and what our responsibilities throughout the day are. Thank you to the Koosed family for joining us for Shabbat and providing the snack. Wishing you a wonderful weekend and Shabbat Shalom! Reminders: -September 20th: ½ day (dismissal will be at 12pm). We are encouraging children to come dressed wearing all white for Rosh Hashanah. -September 21st and 22nd: No School
