We hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving and enjoyed your time spent with family and friends. As we all returned refreshed, the children were so excited to begin to explore Hanukkah. We are getting in the spirit with Hanukkah songs, stories, and by exploring and discovering different forms of light. The next two weeks will be very busy, so please make sure the children receive enough rest and arrive promptly to school at 9am. We continue to discuss how being thankful is a value that we practice everyday, and the holidays are a good time to understand it more. Teaching children the value of giving is important and there is no better way than by showing a living example. Hanukkah is truly a special time to reflect on what we are thankful for, as we celebrate by lighting the candles. We are constantly teaching a valuable lesson on how to bring "light" to others, by giving back to those less fortunate. Each day the children continue to practice being mindful. During Hanukkah, there is ample opportunity to create mindful Hanukkah moments. From watching a candle burn, to visualizing the warmth, baking delicious treats, playing a simple Dreidel game, and focusing while it spins, all of this can help the children to stay in the moment and appreciate what's in front of them. The children sang Hanukkah songs with Teacher Andrew, and listened to Rabbi Josh as he told the Hanukkah story. On Friday, we celebrated Shabbat. Thank you to the Ghodsian family for joining us, the rainbow challah and jello, were a big hit! A memorable and "Mindful" day, loved by all.
