The children enjoyed a fun baking lesson on Thursday. When children cook in class they learn many important skills: they learn about nutrition, the senses and food groups. We discussed how food must be cooked/baked before it can be eaten. We talked about concepts involving volume and measurements.
Each child took turns mixing, pouring, measuring, and making their own snowman cookies. Each child rolled the dough into circles, and decorated their own cookie. We hope you enjoyed them! We are continuing our discussions on weather and what we wear when it is cold. The children have fun exploring scarves and gloves and wearing them around the room. We noticed a lot of children LOVED jumping in puddles outside. Please remember to bring rainboots and a rain jacket to class on days it is raining, its wonderful to allow children to experience rain (since it does not happen to often in Southern California). A quick note from Ashley: I will absolutely miss everyone while I am home recovering. I look forward to seeing everyone when I return in a few weeks. Reminders: *Our Picture Day is coming up. Tuesday January 31st at 9:30. Please make sure your child is at school on time! Sterling Photography will be taking individual pictures. Our class picture will be taken during the make-up session in March so everyone will be in it. We will let you know the date once it is scheduled. * Tot Shabbat tomorrow is in the Parenting Center at 10:30 am. * Father’s and Grandfather’s week starts February 6th. More information to come. We enjoyed a rainy Shabbat with everyone in room 23! It was crowded and wonderful to spend it together.
