Dear Parents, What a fun filled week we had! It finally rained and it was the perfect opportunity to continue our topic on Winter. We showed the children various “winter” pictures, from snow, to icicles, to people sledding/skiing and people wearing earmuffs and winter coats. One of the children said that the man wearing earmuffs had on headphones. We had the pleasure of Jen coming in at the perfect time, who taught the children a song about “what are the things that keep you warm on a cold and frosty day?” Some of the answers the children gave were sweater, jacket, gloves, snow pants, hat, and boots. Every time we sang by clapping along to the beat with the answer, “a sweater keeps you warm on a cold and frosty day” and so on and so forth. The song ended with “these are the things that keep you warm on a cold and frosty day.” We had Music with Andrew where we did a “musical massage to wipe the rain down off our bodies.” We tickled the raindrops and sang “If All the Raindrops Were…” The children each sang their name using a banana shaped maraca as a microphone to sing their name to the beat of the song. We tapped our fruit shaped maracas to be raindrops before we got the big rainbow parachute out where we shook it up and down and all around. We read the book “The Biggest Snowman Ever” and the children were in awe by the giant Snowman in the book. We made collages by using winter themed cookie cutters dipped in white paint and placing them on blue construction paper. The children had to work on their fine motor skills to dip the cookie cutter in the paint before carefully putting it on the paper without dripping the paint. A giant thank you to Kayla’s mommy and Evan’s mommy who both came in to read books to our class during snack time. If you would like to come in please let us know. We love when parents come in to volunteer their time to read! We did a science experiment and made “snow” from a test tube kit that started as a powder and as we added water it expanded and became “snow.” The children had a chilling time playing with it, and they all got a little bowl of snow to play with. All of the children had such a great time with it, digging their hands into it and feeling the cold of it. Thank you to Jacob and his Family who helped us celebrate our first Shabbat family. We went to Shabbat services and had a front row seat to sing along with Ditza and Rabbi Sari. The children love singing along to “Gili Gili Good Shabbat” and we sang it in our class several times this week too. Shabbat Shalom and have a restful long weekend, Debbie, Erika and Gali Reminders: Kayla is our 1st Shabbat Girl on Friday, January 19th.
